Haiwainet is the official website of the overseas edition of the People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

The domain name haiwainet.cn was registered on May 29, 2012, and officially went online on November 6.[4]

In March 2018, some people pointed out that Haiwainet was the real body of All American Television, located in Pasadena, California, United States[5] and that Haiwainet's American channel and All American Television were "one institution with two names".[6] However, Haiwainet denied the allegations and stated that it "had no relationship with All American Television"[7] and also had no relationship with the station's executive director Zhang Huijun.[8] Subsequently, the Seattle -based All American Television Corporation (AAT Television Corporation) also issued a statement saying that it had no relationship with All American Television.[9]

Content

[edit]

Ownership of the Haiwainet is split 60–40, respectively, between the People's Daily Online and People's Daily Press.[10] The People's Daily Overseas Network has a subsidiary called "Haike News".[11][better source needed]
