Guerreros de Autlán, previously named Atlético Cocula,[2] is a football club that plays in the Liga TDP. It is based in Autlán, Mexico. Since 2025–26 season the team will play in the Liga Premier de México.

History

[edit]

The team first appeared in 2002 under the name Club Deportivo Autlán. In the 2004 Apertura Tournament, the club won the Tercera División championship, and was the runner–up in the Segunda División.[3] In 2008 the team was dissolved after selling its place in the Segunda División to C.D. Oro.[4] In 2014, the team returned to competition for a brief period in the Third Division, before being dissolved the following year.[4]

After eight years of inactivity, the team was re-established on February 28, 2023, now under the name Guerreros de Autlán, and registered in the Liga TDP, the fourth tier of Mexican football.[1] However, due to regulatory issues, the team competed officially under the name Atlético Cocula, the franchise it leased to participate in the professional football.[5]

On May 25, 2025, the team was promoted to the Liga Premier de México after defeating C.F. Cadereyta in the regional semi–finals.[6] The team had finished the regular season in first place in its group and had previously eliminated Atlético Tesistán, Charales de Chapala, and Tapatíos Soccer.[7]

On June 27, 2025 the name Guerreros de Autlán was officially recognized by the FMF and its affiliated leagues, abandoning the old name Atlético Cocula.[8]
