Fort Grosnez is a fort on the Island of Alderney, to the west of Braye Bay. With Mt. Hale Battery and Fort Albert across the bay, Fort Grosnez protects the main harbor of Alderney, and the 1,600 yards (1,500 m)-long breakwater. In 1893, all the other forts on Alderney were disarmed except for Fort Albert and Fort Grosnez, which retained 2 guns for the militia’s practice. [1]
