Fiona Lali (born 1998) is a British politician and campaign co-ordinator for the Revolutionary Communist Party (UK).[1][2] She ran for candidancy in the 2024 United Kingdom general election in the first-time constituency of Stratford and Bow[3] as an independent canditate, where she received 4.1% of the vote. [4]
Lali rose to notoriety in May 2024 when she debated Suella Braverman on GB News about British involvement in the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and facilitation of genocide in Gaza. [5]
Early life
[edit]Lali was born in 1998 to a mother from a Catholic family in Northern Ireland, and a father who came to Britain from Uganda as a refugee. She spent several years growing up in Uganda and Ireland before moving to London aged 11. [6]
Lali joined the Labour Party at 18 years old to support Jeremy Corbyn as leader and to debate against those on the right of the party. She went on to coordinate a Students for Corbyn campaign, and was part of the Labour4Clause4 campaign.[7]
Political activism
[edit]In the leadup to the 2019 United Kingdom general election, Lali was heavily involved in the Labour Party in the constituency of Chingford and Woodford Green. She set up a local anti-racist campaign group to support ethnic minorities in the area.[8]
In 2022, she was expelled from of the Labour Party. She began focusing her time on youth campaigns for the Revolutionary Communist Party, and being a voice for justice in Palestine. In her words, “I’m determined to use my platform to defend Palestine, attack the war criminals and imperialists here in Britain, and make the case against capitalism,”.[9] [10]
On 7th June 2025, Fiona Lali organised a march in Central London to protest against Starmer's "war on the poor" and to advocate for a revolution against the capitalist system. The Revolutionary Communist Party are calling for the ending of all austerity and war by addressing the root problem, which they believe is the capitalist system.[11]
