Fatima Group is a Pakistani conglomerate, established in 1936, with operations spanning fertilizers, sugar, textiles, energy, packaging, mining & trading, among other sectors. As of early 2025, it reported an annual turnover exceeding PKR 80 billion and employed over 6,300 people.[1]

History

  • 1936 – Founded as a commodity trading business in pre‑independence India. The Group has grown into one of Pakistan's large private-sector conglomerates, with major operations in fertilizers and downstream industries.[1][2]
  • 1966 – Incorporated Fazal Cloth Mills, expanding into textiles.[2]
  • 2003 – Incorporated Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited (Fertilizer division) as a joint venture with Arif Habib Group; commercial production began in 2011 at Sadiqabad plant.[2]
  • 2010–2015 – Acquired and rebranded DH Fertilizers Limited to Fatimafert; acquired "Bubber Sher" brand.[2]
  • 2022 – Acquired full ownership of Fatima Cement Limited.[3]

Key developments

Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC),[4] a joint venture between Fatima Group and Arif Habib Group, was formally incorporated in 2003 and is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX: FATIMA).[5][1]

In 2022, Fatima Group entered into joint venture agreements involving Saudi Arabia's Sarh Attaqnia Co. and China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), reportedly sealing industrial deals worth around US $1 billion.[6][7]

In 2023‑24, FFC acquired a stake of approximately 33.33 % in National Resources (Private) Limited (NRL), a joint venture with the Government of Balochistan. Further investments and plans followed for expansion in mining exploration.[8][7]

On 21 November 2024, Fatima Fertilizer became the first private sector entity in Pakistan to formally partner with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) by adopting the UN’s SDG Impact Framework. The "SDGs Impact through Businesses: Sustainability Framework for Fatima Fertilizer" report was launched in Islamabad, attended by government, UNDP and private sector representatives.[9][10][11]

In April 2025, NRL revealed a major copper-gold discovery at its exploration lease in Chagai District, Balochistan.[12]
