Drag Shírah
Drag Shírah, stage name of Carla Domínguez Curbelo (born February 17, 2001),[1] is a Spanish performer and drag artist. She was the third woman in history to compete in the Drag Queen Gala of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, following Drag Noa and Drag Vintash.[2]
Professional career
[edit]Carla first became interested in drag art after watching performances at the 2009 Drag Queen Gala of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where she saw Drag Noa perform — the first woman to ever participate in the gala. Through this experience, Carla realized that women could also pursue this art form, and she decided to follow in those footsteps.[1]
In 2022, she performed at the Drag Queen Gala of Gáldar in celebration of LGBT Pride Month, a gala which included a keynote speech by Drag Vulcano.[3] On July 7 of that same year, she participated in the special program "La noche drag" on Sálvame Mediafest.[4]
In 2023, she made her debut at the Drag Queen Gala of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with her performance titled “Que no se borre mi nombre de la historia” (“May my name not be erased from history”), coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the gala.[5][6] On March 18, she performed at the Drag Gala in Corralejo.[7] On August 4 of the same year, she performed alongside other drag queens at the Drag Gala for the San Lorenzo Festival.[8]
She competed again in the 2024 Drag Queen Gala of the Carnival of Gáldar. While Drag Kalik was crowned the winner, Shírah’s performance was well received, earning her third place and the title of “Third Drag Lady.”[9]
