add mention of me meeting Ken-ichi?
[edit]Hello, I'm Scott Loarie, the subject of this article. I'd like to suggest adding something about how I met Ken-ichi Ueda, who launched iNat as part of his Berkeley Master's thesis) in 2010 - here's a possible reference Thanks! Scottloarie (talk) 20:48, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- Abartella16,Jamiebuba,Gheus,Idoghor Melody - I'm not totally sure whats going on here - I started getting linkedin messages last week from about 10 people claiming to be 'wikipedia admins' some linking to this draft - (I assume because I spoke at TED last earlier this month Abartella16?) - saying they can help "my" article get published. I quickly realized these are scammers- I indulged Jordan dot just to see how it would play out and it was super interesting - I got the whole whatsapp back and forth about him being a Wikipedia Admin that would require payment to publish this page. I obviously didn't pay anything and as expected whatever I watched him do got immediately reverted. Working on iNat- I find this very interesting to watch since we deal alot with misinformation and people trying to outwit the moderators. I don't have a dog in the race about this Wikipedia article. But it is a bit frightening that there's a whole cottage industry on Linkedin trying to get people to pay to publish articles. But a relief that you guys are on top of things. I thought - jesus is wikipedia actually this whole underground black market?? Scottloarie (talk) 02:21, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Scottloarie Ignore or block anyone who claims to be a "Wikipedia admin" or moderator in disguise of getting WP:PAID to get your article published. See also Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure and Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Scam warning. Jamiebuba (talk) 11:24, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
