[edit]Zhang Wenqiu was born in 1903 and experienced almost the entire process of the Chinese Revolution. She was a true revolutionary veteran, born into a family of officials. She was once tied to a sedan chair in the middle of the night, causing a riot. In order to avoid assassination, she was even carried in a coffin across the enemy's blockade.[2]
She is also Mao zedong's parent. Her two daughters, Liu Siqi and Shao Hua, married Mao's two sons, Mao Anying and Mao's Anying. She is a heroine of the secret war.
During the Agrarian Revolution
[edit]Zhang Wenqiu served successively as the Minister of Women's Department, Minister of Organization Department, Secretary of County Federation of Trade Unions and Secretary of Party Branch of Jingshan County Committee of Hubei Province. After the failure of the Great Revolution, she served successively as the Minister of Propaganda Department, Riot Squad Leader and Secretary of Party Branch of Hubei-Henan Border Region, Minister of Propaganda Department and Minister of Women's Department of Hanchuan County Committee of Hubei Province, Confidential Secretary of Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League, Minister of Organization Department of Pudong and Huxi District Committee of Shanghai, Minister of Women's Department of Shandong Provincial Committee, Deputy Director of General Office of Soviet Preparatory Committee, Director of General Office of the Fifth National Labor Congress.
War of Liberation
[edit]During the War of Liberation, she served successively as the Principal and Secretary of Party Branch of the Rear School of the Political Department of Yan'an Joint Defense Army, Chief of Organization Section, Chief of Cadre Section and Secretary of Party Branch of the Ministry of Justice of North China People's Government[3]
After Liberation
[edit]After the national liberation, she served successively as Deputy Director of Personnel Office of Bank of China Head Office and Director of General Office of National Financial Trade Union, Secretary-General of China Welfare Association for the Blind, and Person in Charge of Cadre Education of the Central Organization Department. During this period, she visited the Soviet Union, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, East Germany and other countries, did a lot of work for the party and the people, and won honor for the motherland.
At 9 pm on July 11, 2002, Zhang Wenqiu passed away in Beijing at the age of 99. Comrade Zhang Wenqiu passed away
