ZAD Organization

[edit]

ZAD Organization (also known as Zad Alkhair, Rekxrawî ZAD, or ZAD UK & International) is an independent, impartial, non-profit medical and humanitarian organization. It was founded with a humanitarian mission rooted in Islamic principles and universal ethics. ZAD provides specialized healthcare services to underserved populations, with a focus on surgical care, intensive care, and medical access for those unable to afford treatment.

Its motto is: “Zad for Human Revival”, inspired by the Quranic verse: "مَنۡ أَحۡیَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَاۤ أَحۡیَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِیعًۭا" (“Whoever saves a life, it is as if he had saved all mankind.”)

History

[edit]

ZAD was officially registered on August 8, 2018 with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) under the name “Organization of Khair Zaid (OKZ)”.[1]

It was later registered in the Republic of Iraq on December 27, 2021 (Ref: 5133, Reg. No. 1LP2112043).[2]

Internationally, it is registered in the United Kingdom under the name ZAD UK & Internationals, listed with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under number 1204563.[3]

ZAD Organization aims to provide high-quality healthcare services to patients in poverty, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or identity. The organization works to protect patients' dignity, prevent exploitation in healthcare settings, and encourage ethical medical practice.

Surgical Interventions

[edit]

The organization supports surgeries for those who cannot afford them by working with partner hospitals and qualified surgeons. Patients are selected based on medical urgency and financial need. ZAD does not operate hospitals directly, but coordinates with medical facilities to cover treatment costs on behalf of eligible patients.

ZAD Medical Center

[edit]

ZAD operates a specialized medical center that includes:

  • Intensive Care and High Dependency Units
  • Dialysis Unit
  • Oxygen Production and Supply
  • Medical Laboratory
  • Pharmacy
  • Ambulance and Emergency Transport Services

International Operations

[edit]

In 2024, ZAD expanded its services to Gaza in response to the humanitarian situation. It established multiple medical points across the Gaza Strip to deliver primary care to wounded civilians, elderly patients, and individuals with chronic illnesses. ZAD teams provided consultations, essential medications, and monitoring services in areas with limited healthcare access.

While the organization did not rebuild hospitals or offer training, it deployed doctors to conduct a limited number of surgical interventions in collaboration with local medical centers. These efforts were intended to alleviate the burden on Gaza’s health system and provide immediate assistance to patients in need.

Education and Outreach

[edit]

ZAD conducts medical education sessions and workshops for students and healthcare providers. It also runs public awareness campaigns addressing health risks, chronic diseases, and preventive care. The organization encourages volunteerism, particularly among youth and medical students.

Structure and Leadership

[edit]

ZAD is led by Akber Mohammed Faraj and supported by a board of trustees, doctors, and health administrators. It partners with local and international medical professionals to carry out its programs.

ZAD Organization has been recognized for its humanitarian work in Iraq and internationally. It has participated in events such as the Iraq International Health Expo and collaborates with health-related NGOs and institutions.
