WVS Cambodia (formerly Animal Rescue Cambodia) is a non-governmental organization in Phnom Penh focused on animal welfare for dogs and cats. Founded in 2016, it became affiliated with the Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) in 2024 to support rabies prevention, sterilization, and veterinary training in Cambodia. [1]

Besides vaccinations, rabies education, and community engagement to foster animal welfare, WVS Cambodia focuses on high-volume sterilization campaigns. [2] [3] The International Training Center (ITC), opening in 2025, will train veterinarians in high-quality spay/neuter techniques. [4]

Milestones

[edit]

In 2020, advocacy by Animal Rescue Cambodia together with partners contributed to a ban on the dog meat trade in Siem Reap Province, citing public health concerns.[5]

In 2024, WVS Cambodia delivered one of Asia’s largest rabies vaccination efforts, reaching over 229,000 dogs during a two-week campaign with the project Mission Rabies. [6] [2]
