Comment: Two of the sources make no mention of the subject. The abstract for the third source at least mentions some of the terms individually, but does not mention the full term. Even if the rest of the paper does, a single source is not sufficient to establish notability. Greenman (talk) 10:31, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

The voiced bilabial nonexplosive plosive is a sound not represented in the IPA despite occurring in Ikwerre.[1][2] As of such it is transcribed in all phonetic transcriptions of Ikwerre with ḅ. It is pronounced like a [ɓ] but without laryngeal lowering or implosion at release.[2]
Features
[edit]- Its manner of articulation is nonexplosive stop, meaning it is produced like a plosive but the without pressure build-up and burst release associated with pulmonic stops
- Its place of articulation is bilabial, which means it is articulated with both lips.
- Its phonation is voiced, which means the vocal cords vibrate during the articulation.
- It is an oral consonant, which means air is allowed to escape through the mouth only.
- Because the sound is not produced with airflow over the tongue, the central–lateral dichotomy does not apply.
- Its airstream mechanism has no main definition other than non pulmonic.
