Untitled eighth Chucky film is an upcoming American supernatural slasher film written and directed by Don Mancini. It will serve as a continuation of the television series Chucky (2021–2024) and the ninth mainline installment of the Child's Play franchise. The film will star Brad Dourif reprising his role as the voice of the title character.

Development

In February 2018, a Chucky television series was announced to be in the works, with involvement from series creator Don Mancini and producer David Kirschner, and is a continuation of the film's story arc. Mancini also stated that as well as the series, feature films will still continue.[2] The series, premiered in October 2021; features the return of several cast members, including Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise and Jennifer Tilly.[3]

In March 2024, franchise creator Mancini announced he is in early stages of development on a new Chucky movie that would work in tandem with the series.[4] In April 2024, Dourif announced that he would be retiring from acting, with the exception of any Chucky-related projects involving the character.[1] The reason behind this was because of his daughter Fiona (who plays Nica Pierce in the franchise), plus he considers Mancini to be "family".[1]

In September 2024, Mancini stated that the Chucky franchise would continue following the cancellation of the television series.
