Total Giovanni are an Australian band formed in 2013 in Melbourne, Australia. Comprised of members Frank Topaz, Spike Punch, Credenza Ford, Cavallo Nero and Shattered Guru, the band are known for their visually unique and energetic live performances and dance-oriented music which draws on funk, new-wave, disco, and house influences. In 2014 the band released four singles; Human Animal[2], Paradise[3], When We Break[4] and Can't Control My Love[5] with the intendent Melbourne label Two Bright Lakes[6] before moving to Remote Control Records[7]. These singles received a great volume of air play in Australia[8] and positive press including favourable reviews in Pitchfork[9], The Age and NME.
In 2015 they played Golden Plains Festival, with their explosive afternoon performance leading to the band being honoured by several thousand punters with the elusive golden boot[10][11]. This breakthrough performance led to the band playing headline shows across Australia[12] and bookings at music festivals including Splendour In The Grass[13], Falls Festival[14], Dark Mofo[15], Sugar Mountain[16], Secret Garden[17], Outside In[18], Beyond The Valley[19] and the opening of Melbourne Music Week. November 2015 also saw the band nominated for three Music Victoria Awards for Best Live Band, Best Electronic Act and Best Emerging Artist[20].
The band released their debut album, Euphoria, in 2018[21]. The album was nominated for Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album or EP at the AIR Awards of 2019.
In 2019, due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the band retired to different cities and put down their instruments, in order to work hard for a living and raise children.
In 2024, the band reformed to play Gaytimes Festival and began writing new music inspired by the cosmological phenomena of Dark Energy.
As of 2025, their music has accumulated over 75 million streams on Spotify[22]
