Thomas Nikolaou (born 22 October 2001) is a Cypriot professional football player who currently plays for Cypriot First Division side Nea Salamis Famagusta FC.
Club career
[edit]On 6 September 2024, Nikolaou joined Slovak first division side FC Spartak Trnava.[1][2]
He made his debut for the club in a 4:0 away win over FK Železiarne Podbrezová, coming on as a substitute for Martin Šulek in the 78” minute.[3][4] He played the full 90” minutes in a 7:1 win over OK Častkovce in the second round of the Slovak Cup.[5] His final appearance for the club was in a 3:2 win over league newcomers KFC Komárno. Nikolaou started the game but came off at half time for Martin Mikovič.[6][7]
He made his debut for OFK Malzenice in a 2:0 loss at home against MŠK Považská Bystrica. He started the game but was later subbed off in the 80” minute for Tomáš Šarmír.[8]
After his stint in Slovakia, where in one and a half seasons he was playing at Spartak Trnava and Dynamo Malzenice, where he played 19 times and got two assists. He rejoined Nea Salamina, where he was prior to joining Achna.[9]
Nikolaou won the Cypriot First Division goal of the month in 2021, getting 48 percent of total votes.[10]
International career
[edit]Nikolaou was a part on the Cyprus national under-21 football team, making one appearance.
