Susan Schulze Hoff is an American business executive, fitness model, and philanthropist, known as the co-founder of Fantesca Estate and Winery.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

[edit]

Susan was born in January 1965 in Minnesota and attended Henry Sibley High School until 1983. She later earned a bachelor's degree in advertising and graphic design from the University of Minnesota in 1987. In 2007, she completed an executive MBA in Wine Commerce Studies at KEDGE Business School in France.[4] She is the daughter of Richard Schulze, the founder of Best Buy.[5]

Career

[edit]

Hoff began her career in the accounts payable department of Best Buy after high school and worked in various store-level positions during college. She eventually became Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer in 1998.[4] In 1994, she founded the Best Buy Foundation, the company’s philanthropic division.[6][7][8] She remained Chief Communications Officer until 2006 and served as CEO of the Best Buy Foundation until 2013.[9] She began working in the family business at age 18 and retired from her executive role at Best Buy after 23 years.[10]

In 2004, Hoff and her husband Duane Hoff purchased a 53-acre estate on Spring Mountain in Napa Valley and established Fantesca Estate & Winery.[2][11][10] The estate includes vineyards originally planted in the 19th century and a wine cave developed by Robert Yeakey. The couple completed and released the winery’s unfinished 2002 vintage.[10] In 2018, sommelier DLynn Proctor, featured in the documentary SOMM: Into the Bottle, joined the winery as director.[12][13]

Hoff and her husband have participated in Mardi Gras celebrations since 2001.[14] In 2017, they were named King and Queen of the Krewe of Mid-City in New Orleans.[15][16][17]

Hoff runs a lifestyle and wellness blog titled "Oath & Grind," where she shares fitness routines, motivational content, and product reviews.[18]

Hoff has been a World Beauty Fitness & Fashion (WBFF) Pro since 2013.[19] She has been featured on the cover of BodyScape Fitness Magazine in 2018 and 2023,[20] and Epic Fit Magazine in 2022.[21] In 2019, she won the Mrs. North America Globe Classique Pageant. She also appeared on the cover of FHM South Africa in February 2024,[22][23] and was the cover model for Muscle & Fitness Hers in October 2023.[19] She was also featured on the cover of Playboy’s December 2023 issue.[24]
