Suraj Chavan (born c. 1994) is an Indian social media influencer and actor known for his Marathi-language digital content and roles in Marathi films. He won Bigg Boss Marathi season 5 in 2024.[1]
Early life
[edit]Suraj Chavan was born in Modhave village, Baramati, Pune district, Maharashtra, India.[2] He lost his father to cancer and, on the same day, his mother and grandmother.[3][2] Raised with five sisters, he worked as a laborer earning ₹300 per day due to financial difficulties.[4] He studied up to the eighth grade.[2][5]
Career

[edit]Chavan initially created comedy videos on TikTok, focusing on Marathi content with rural themes.[4] After India banned TikTok, he shifted to Instagram Reels, where he built a following with similar content.[2]
Acting
[edit]Chavan debuted in Marathi cinema with a supporting role in Musandi (2023), a film about competitive exam aspirants, released on June 9, 2023.[6] He played lead roles in Raja Rani (2024) and Zapuk Zupuk (2025), the latter a fairy-tale drama that received mixed reviews for its narrative.[7][8]
Bigg Boss Marathi Season 5
[edit]Chavan participated in Bigg Boss Marathi season 5, hosted by Riteish Deshmukh, in 2024.[1] He won on October 6, 2024, receiving a trophy, ₹14.6 lakh in cash, a ₹10 lakh jewellery voucher, and an electric two-wheeler.[1] Other finalists were Abhijeet Sawant (first runner-up), Nikki Tamboli (third), Dhananjay Powar (fourth), and Ankita Walawalkar (fifth).[1]
