Early Life Supratiek Shyamal Ghosh, better known by the acronym SG, was born in Kolkata in a family with a deep-rooted artistic legacy. He is the son of the radio personality and acclaimed filmmaker Shyamal Ghosh and Shelly Ghosh. He is the grandson of the legendary singer Geeta Dutt.

Supratiek listened to the songs of Kishore Kumar since his childhood, and he was immensely inspired by other singers such as R.D. Burman, Michael Jackson, and Boney M. The death of his father and Kishore Kumar in 1987 strengthened his will to become a musician.

He attended Julien Day School in Kolkata and completed his post-graduation degree in commerce from Prafulla Chandra College affiliated with University of Calcutta. On one hand, Supratiek wanted to be a musician, but his father was not in support, but on the other hand, he wanted to be established as a self-sustainable ecosystem to sustain the musicians, so they did not need to totally rely on the industry.
