Ambassador Dr Sufyan Qudah (born 1969) is a Jordanian diplomat who currently serves as the Official Spokesperson and Director of the Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan. He previously served as Jordan’s Ambassador to Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and the Republic of Bulgaria between 2019 and 2023.

Career

Dr Qudah began his diplomatic career in 1996 as a diplomatic attaché in the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1998 to 2001, he served as Political Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Beirut, Lebanon, and concurrently as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Jordanian Embassy in Beirut.

Between 2001 and 2006, he was posted to the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo as Deputy Chief of Mission and Head of the Political Section as well as a political officer, at the Permanent Mission of Jordan to the League of Arab States in Cairo. From 2007 to 2012, Qudah served as Political and Congressional Officer at the Jordanian Embassy in Washington, D.C. He was later appointed Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the Jordanian Embassy in Doha, Qatar (2012–2017).

Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr Qudah held a number of senior positions:

  • Director of the Asia and Oceania Department (2017–2018)
  • Director of Operations (2018–2019)
  • Spokesperson and Director of the Communication and Media Department (2019)

In 2019, he was sworn in as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania. He presented his credentials to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on November 26, 2019. He was also concurrently accredited as ambassador to the Republic of Moldova (2019–2023) and the Republic of Bulgaria (2020–2023). His tenure concluded in 2023.

In October 2023, Dr Qudah was appointed as the Official Spokesperson and Director of the Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.[1]

Education

Dr Qudah holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galați (2023). His academic background also includes:

  • Master’s in Management and Strategic Studies – Royal National Defense College (2007)
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in National Resources Management – Royal National Defense College (2007)
  • Higher Diploma in Diplomacy and Foreign Service – The Institute of Diplomacy (1996)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration – Western Michigan University (1993)

He has completed executive training programs, including the Senior Executive Course for Ambassadors and Flag Officers at NATO Defense College (2024) and an Executive Course on Counterterrorism and Extremism at the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (2008).

Ambassador Qudah also participated in 2018 in Senior Executive Seminar in George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In addition, Dr Qudah participated in 2008 at Senior Crisis Management Seminar at Bureau of Diplomatic Security, U.S. Department of State – Antiterrorism Assistance Program, Washington, D.C., USA.

Dr Qudah was born in Amman, Jordan, in 1969. He is married and has three children.
