History and Founding
[edit]The Sudheekshan Foundation is a Non- Profit, Secular Humanitarian Social Service Organization. It was established in the name of a young boy, Chigurupati Sudheekshan, who lost his life in a road accident without fulfilling his dreams at the tender age of 20. The accident occurred on November 3 at 9 a.m. while he was going to his college from Kankipadu to Vijayawada Way in Kanuru, near the engineering college. He struggled for six days to survive and took his last breath on November 8, 2006. This tragic incident led to the formation of the foundation in memory of this young Sudheekshan.
Chigurupati Vimala, mother of this boy, in her unbearable grief, left her teaching profession and formed the social service Organization in the name of her beloved son as the "Sudheekshan Foundation" on the 10th day of the boy’s demise to dedicate her remaining life to social service for serving the poor and needy in all aspects. About CHIGURUPATI SUDHEEKSHAN
[edit]Sudheekshan was the second child and the only son in his family. Raised in an educational environment, he completed his schooling at the school run by his mother and later pursued higher studies in computer science, physics, and electronics. Deeply passionate about software programming, he dreamed of becoming a great software developer and establishing a technology center.
On November 1, 2006, he joined a software training institute in Vijayawada. Just two days later, on November 3, while commuting by motorbike, he met with a tragic road accident near Kanuru village. Despite wearing a helmet, he sustained severe internal head injuries due to a negligent, drunken truck driver. Inconsistent hospital care and delays in treatment led to his passing on November 8, 2006.
His mother, Chigurupati Vimala, in her grief, founded the Sudheekshan Foundation to continue his dream and contribute to society.New Indian Express – Turning grief into hope
About Founder
[edit]Smt. Chigurupati Vimala, born in Unduru village, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, completed her post-graduation in Public Administration from Nagarjuna University and teacher training in Hyderabad. With a passion for service, she started a school in Kankipadu in 1982, offering free education to thousands of rural children up to the 10th grade.
Tragedy struck when her son, Sudheekshan, died in a road accident on November 8, 2006. Deeply affected, she left her teaching career and founded the Sudheekshan Foundation in his memory just 10 days later. Her goal: to prevent other mothers from suffering the same loss.
Through the foundation, she has since dedicated her life to social service—organizing road safety awareness for students and supporting causes like health, education, humanity, and skill development. [1]
Our Services
[edit]Our major service is to give a new life to road accident victims by supporting them with prosthetic limbs such as artificial legs and hands, along with wheelchairs and other necessary instruments required for their daily living. These services aim to help them regain mobility, independence, and hope for a better future.
These mobility aids help restore dignity and independence to survivors of road trauma, many of whom belong to underprivileged backgrounds. The foundation works closely with medical professionals to ensure each beneficiary receives quality, custom-fitted assistance.
Beyond physical aid, the foundation conducts:
- Free health check-up camps
- Counseling for trauma survivors and families
- Road safety awareness programs in schools, colleges, and communities
It also partners with hospitals, physiotherapists, and NGOs to reach remote and underserved populations. The foundation’s activities emphasize compassion, equality, and empowerment.
