Stepford County Railway (abbreviated as SCR) is a Britain-inspired train simulation game on Roblox owned by the user SCRTeamOffical, previously known as Charlie_RBX. It was founded on March 15th, 2017 and later released to public on November 25th, 2017.[1] It has basic roles like driving, dispatching, guarding and signalling and features like AWS warnings, automatic track switches and functional signals. It features over 40 train classes across 4 operators.[2]
Gameplay
[edit]Driving
[edit]This is the only role new players can access. It lets the player pick any operator, train, and route they have purchased using the in-game points. After they do that, they can select in which depot on the route to spawn in. Then they must drive the route without skipping any of the stations in the schedule (skipping too many stations kicks the player out of the route). Once they reach the terminus, they have three options: Continue on the same route, change the route or exit to the menu. They get 5 points per stop, as well as 10 points for completing the route and 1 experience point per stop after terminating. They can use the points to buy more trains/routes and the experience points to unlock trainings for higher roles.
Dispatching
[edit]To unlock dispatching, the player must already have completed the Qualified Driver training. They also need 360 experience points[3] to access the theory quiz, and if they pass it, they can do a training to access dispatching. Unlike driving, players do not need to unlock anything using points in the dispatching role. The player can pick any station to spawn at and they automatically get assigned some platforms on that station. Then, they need to wait for trains to arrive at their plaforms. They must dispatch those trains according to set rules which they have to read before advancing to the dispatcher role, and for each train they dispatch, they get 5 points.[4]
Guarding
[edit]To unlock guarding, the player must already have completed the Dispatcher training. They also need 540 experience points[5] to access the theory quiz, and if they pass it, they can do a training to access guarding. Like dispatching, players do not need to unlock anything using points in the guarding role. The player can select any station to spawn at and they need to find a train. Once they do, they can request to guard it. Guarding requires tasks like opening and closing doors, communicating with the dispatcher etc. The guard gets 5 points per stop, and the driver recieves double points if they have a guard on board.
Signalling
[edit]Signalling is the last and hardest to achieve from the member roles. If the player wants to get it, they need to have already completed the Guard training, be over 13 years old, be in the SCR Discord server and pass a difficult and long training, which is open only sometimes. As a signaller, you get to change most of the signalls manually in the zone you pick. There are currently 8 zones in the game.[6] This role is said to be very difficult, as it has a long set of rules that signallers need to follow. Signallers earn points and experience based on the zone they are signalling and the number of trains that are in it.[7]
