St. Charles Road is a major thoroughfare in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. it starts at Illinois Route 64 in Carol Stream and traverses through cities and villages such as Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Elmhurst, ending on 5th Avenue in Maywood. A large section of this road was designated as Illinois Route 118 from 1935 to 1938, when the route was removed.
Route Description
[edit]Most of St. Charles Road is a four lane surface road, except for a two lane stretch between Illinois Route 64 and Gary Avenue. It merges onto Gary Avenue and passes the Great Western Trail. Once merged out, St. Charles Road passes through many residential and industrial areas in Carol Stream and Glen Ellyn. After passing through Churchill Woods, it intersects Illinois Route 53.
