Sushil Mohapatra is an Indian journalist, rural reporter, known for his field reporting and focus on grassroots issues. He worked with NDTV for 17 years before resigning in 2024 to independently report on underrepresented communities across India.
Early life and background
[edit]Sushil Mohapatra was born in Odisha, India. He is fluent in Odia, Hindi, and English.
Career
[edit]Mohapatra joined NDTV as a reporter and worked there for 17 years, covering a wide range of rural and socio-political issues. During his time at NDTV, he became known for grassroots reporting and had a long-term association with senior journalist Ravish Kumar.
He featured in the international documentary film While We Watched, directed by Vinay Shukla, which received several awards and global critical acclaim.[1][2][3]
In 2024, he resigned from NDTV and launched his independent YouTube channel titled Rural Reports by Sushil Mohapatra, where he publishes in-depth stories in Hindi, English, and Odia, focusing on rural India, slums, farmers, tribal communities, and women in remote regions.[4][5]
