Tails Trading (2017-2024)
[edit]In 2017, Siddharth Shankar founded Tails Trading Ltd in London, initially focusing on facilitating market access for British consumer brands in Asian markets, particularly in the context of Brexit. In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the company shifted its model from distribution to brand acquisition, evolving into a brand portfolio company. Under Shankar's leadership, Tails Trading Ltd reportedly built a portfolio of over 285 consumer brands across various categories. The company expanded its distribution network globally, serving sectors including HoReCa (hotels, restaurants, cafés), retail, convenience, wholesale, and cash-and-carry. It also established a trade finance fund, with a fund size (AUM) of £2B, specializing in the purchase of accounts receivable. By 2024, the company claimed an annual turnover of £6.7 billion and had adopted a self-funded growth strategy, using internal revenue, profits, and financial mechanisms such as invoice factoring to support expansion. In the same year, Shankar oversaw the sale of Tails Trading’s consumer brand division in a transaction reportedly valued at over $500 million. Following the sale, he remained involved as an Advisor to the Board of Directors for the handover period.

He has expressed an emphasis on facilitating global market access, particularly in the UK–India trade corridor. His stated approach prioritizes long-term value creation and sustainable business growth over short-term profitability.
Investment interests and future plans
[edit]Shankar has publicly expressed interest in investments involving consumer brands, trade finance infrastructure, supply chain technologies, sports ventures, and smart technology solutions.
Net worth
[edit]As of 2025, Siddharth Shankar’s estimated net worth is $500 million[9]. His current wealth largely comes from the recent sale of Tails Trading Ltd’s consumer brand division, reportedly valued at over $500 million, along with multiple private investment holdings. He is currently in talks to sell Tails Trading’s £2 billion trade finance arm in a deal reportedly valued at £750 million.
Personal life
[edit]Siddharth Shankar maintains a relatively private personal life. He divides his time between London and Mumbai and is known to be an avid traveller. Outside of business, he has expressed interest in sports investment, consumer brands, supply chain & logistics, B2B commerce & trade enablement, technology, and trade finance.
