Shroomi is an American functional mushroom coffee and beverage brand based in Santa Barbara, California. Founded by Taylor Chavez Goggin, the company produces a range of certified organic and fair trade mushroom-infused coffees and wellness shots aimed at enhancing mental performance, focus, and overall well-being.
History
[edit]Shroomi was founded by entrepreneur Taylor Chavez Goggin, inspired by his personal experiences with mental health and a growing interest in functional mushrooms. After a trip to Japan where he observed the cultural significance of mushrooms, he launched the company with the goal of offering functional beverages to support focus and mood through natural ingredients.[1]
Products
[edit]Shroomi’s product line includes four varieties of mushroom-infused ground coffee:
- Medium Roast – Nicaragua Matagalpa
- Dark Roast – Guatemala Huehuetenango
- Light Roast – Mexico Chiapas
- Half Decaf – Peru La Florida
Each 12 oz bag contains approximately 16,000 mg of Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Chaga mushroom extracts—roughly twice the functional mushroom dosage found in many competing products.[2]
In addition to coffee, the brand also offers mushroom-based wellness shots in flavors such as pomegranate mint, turmeric ginger, and mandarin turmeric.
All Shroomi coffees are certified USDA Organic, Fair Trade, and Climate Pledge Friendly. Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are published for transparency.[3]
Ingredients
[edit]Shroomi products are formulated using 100% fruiting body mushroom extracts and do not use mycelium on grain. Each formula includes:
- Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) – linked to focus and nerve growth
- Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) – used for stress and immune balance
- Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) – known for antioxidant support
Coffee beans are sourced from smallholder organic farms and cooperatives in Latin America, including producers in Nicaragua and Peru.
Reception
[edit]In January 2025, Bon Appétit included Shroomi in its roundup of best mushroom coffees, highlighting its smooth taste and functional mushroom dosage.[4]
Shroomi has been covered in wellness and beverage industry media including TrendHunter and BevNET for its product launches and branding.[5] The brand has also been positively reviewed by health publications and independent reviewers for its transparency and commitment to potency.
Marketing
[edit]Shroomi markets itself as a premium “mental performance coffee” and positions its brand at the intersection of brain health, functional nutrition, and clean-label beverage innovation. Its messaging emphasizes clean ingredients, transparency, and accessibility to consumers navigating stress, burnout, and cognitive fatigue.
