Submission declined on 30 July 2025 by Theroadislong (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Ruphus was a Norwegian progressive rock and jazz‑rock band formed in Oslo in the early 1970s. Over the course of the decade they released a string of critically acknowledged albums before disbanding around 1981. They were probably the most important Norwegian progressive rock band of the 1970s.[1][2][3]
They were influenced by Jethro Tull, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis and others.[4]
The lineup on New Born Day (1973) featured seven members, of whom only Kjell Larsen (guitar) and Asle Nilsen (bass, flute) played on all of their albums.[3][5] Gudny Aspaas sang on several albums, including the debut album, which is notable in that it uses two vocalists in counterpoint.[2]
