Dr. Roshan Kumar Jha is an educator, medical biochemist, and passionate researcher whose life and work have been shaped by a deep commitment to understanding health and alleviating human suffering. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Sawangi (M), Wardha, Maharashtra, he strives every day to educate, inspire, and uplift the next generation of medical professionals while making meaningful advances in clinical biochemistry.
Born on October 12, 1992, in Siraha, to the esteemed Dr. Namo Narayan Jha, Roshan grew up in an environment where learning and service were highly valued. From an early age, he was captivated by the intricate workings of the human body and felt a deep calling to pursue a path in medical sciences — one that would combine scientific rigor with compassion for others. This calling shaped the foundation of an academic journey that began with a Bachelor's degree in Medical Microbiology from Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Dehradun. Seeking a deeper understanding of human health and disease, he went on to complete a Master’s degree in Medical Biochemistry from M.M. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Mullana, Ambala.
Throughout these formative years, Roshan discovered that medical biochemistry is not just about molecules and laboratory results — it is about making connections that can save lives, enable early diagnosis, and foster hope. This belief inspired him to pursue a Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, DMIMS (Deemed to be University), where he dedicated himself to researching the role of microalbuminuria and insulin resistance as predictive biomarkers for nephropathy in obese individuals. His doctoral work reflects his deep commitment to finding ways to detect disease early, when interventions can make the greatest difference for patients and their families.
With over five years of teaching experience, first as a Tutor/Demonstrator and now as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Jha has touched the lives of countless medical students and researchers. In his role, he strives not only to educate, but also to nurture and guide — to foster resilience, compassion, and a sense of purpose within future doctors and biomedical scientists. He takes pride in mentoring students at both the undergraduate and doctoral levels, including guiding a Ph.D. candidate exploring the role of cyclophilin C in early coronary artery disease detection.
As a researcher, he has contributed extensively to the medical literature, with over 25 peer-reviewed publications in esteemed national and international journals. His work spans a range of critical topics, from the role of lipid profiles and microalbuminuria in chronic illnesses to advances in artificial intelligence and its role in laboratory medicine. In doing so, he strives to connect laboratory discoveries to clinical outcomes that benefit patients and communities across the globe.
Throughout his career, he has embraced every opportunity for learning and growth — attending and organizing numerous workshops, seminars, and CMEs, and participating in international conferences. He has authored a monograph titled To Estimate Lipid Profile in Patients with COPD and published the book Objective Structured Practical Examination in Biochemistry Handbook, making valuable contributions to the teaching and practice of medical biochemistry.
More than an educator and researcher, Dr. Jha is a person deeply connected to the human side of medicine. A passionate football player and an avid puzzler, he finds balance and tranquility in moments of sport and reflection. As a husband, a teacher, and a mentor, he understands that the true measure of a medical educator lies not just in accolades, but in the ability to uplift others — to help them find their path, build resilience, and cultivate a deep respect for the human body and spirit.
Today, as an Assistant Professor at JNMC and an emerging voice in the field of medical biochemistry, Dr. Roshan Kumar Jha embraces every opportunity to create connections — between teacher and student, between researcher and patient, and between scientific knowledge and human understanding. His life and work stand as a testament to the profound difference one person can make when passion, knowledge, and empathy unite to illuminate the path for others.
