In the 2018 Italian general election, she was elected to the Senate of the Republic in the single-member constituency of Turin-Collegno , supported by the center-right (on the Lega quota ). She concluded her term in 2022.

Between 12 and 14 September 2021, Roberta Ferrero organized the conference “International Covid Summit - Experiences of care from around the world” in the Senate chambers on the topic of home care for COVID-19.[1] The conference was attended by anti-vax representatives,[2] it was argued that coronavirus is a highly curable disease,[3] and alleged therapies not based on scientific evidence and not recognized by regulatory agencies were proposed.[4] Piedmont was the only Italian region to participate in the conference,[5][6] in the person of the health councilor Icardi Luigi Genesio, who graduated in Management and Economics of Public Administration.[7] The initiative received criticism from newspapers of various tendencies[8][9] and from doctors. Roberto Burioni stated that very dangerous lies have been told and the use of drugs that are not only ineffective but also very harmful has been promoted.[4]
