  • Comment: You seem to have removed, not added, sources. I'm not seeing coverage of this person independently of the band -- what needs to be covered can be covered at the main article. There's some good details in here that it would be great to add to the main article, like it being named after Hewett's asthma, how the band met, and other content about their music. Career and Inspirations

[edit]

Robert Keating was born on April 19, 2000. He has a brother, James Keating, who is an upcoming actor. James starred in the music video for Inhaler's song, 'A Question Of You'.[2] He is an Irish musician best known as the bassist and backing vocalist for the indie rock band Inhaler. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Keating grew up in a musical environment, developing a passion for rock, punk, and alternative music from an early age. Keating cites some of his favourite bands as Pink Floyd (more notably the song Us And Them), The Strokes, The Stone Roses, and Arctic Monkeys.

Keating befriended son of U2 lead singer Bono, lead singer and guitarist Elijah Hewson,[3] and drummer Ryan McMahon while attending St. Andrew's College in Dublin. Together, they formed Inhaler in 2012.[4] In 2015, lead guitarist Josh Jenkinson joined the band, at around the same time the quartet decided on the name Inhaler, after the medical device of the same name, due to Hewson's asthma.[5] As the band's bassist, Keating contributes not only to Inhaler's rhythm section but also to the group's songwriting and creative direction.

Inhaler began building a following with live performances[6] in Dublin's local venues, earning praise for their energetic shows and their charismatic stage presence. The band's breakthrough came with the release of their debut album, It Won't Always Be Like This[7]., which debuted at number one on both the Irish Albums Chart and the UK Albums Chart.[8] Keating's melodic basslines became a defining element of the band's sound, drawing inspiration from artists such as Peter Hook of New Order and Mani of The Stone Roses.

Following the success of their debut, Keating and the band toured extensively across hometown country Ireland, as well as the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia, supporting major acts and headlining sold-out shows.[9] Their second album, Cuts & Bruises, further established Inhaler's reputation for blending indie rock with post-punk influences, earning a spot at No.2 on the UK Charts. Their third and most recent album, Open Wide also earned a spot at No.2 on the UK Charts[10]

As of 2025, Keating continues to perform and record with Inhaler.
