RentMacha is an Indian online platform that rents household furniture and white-goods on fixed-term subscriptions.[1]
History
[edit]The venture was launched in Mumbai in 2016 and later expanded operations to Chennai and Hyderabad.[2] RentMacha positions itself as part of India’s consumer “furniture-as-a-service” segment, which offers short- and medium-term rentals in lieu of ownership.[2]
Business model
[edit]A July 2017 review by Gadgets 360 described RentMacha’s catalogue of beds, sofas, wardrobes, televisions and large appliances, noting rental tenures between three and 24 months, refundable security deposits, and free maintenance during the contract.[1]
Market context and reception
[edit]Two separate features in the business daily Mint have cited RentMacha while discussing India’s rental-furniture market:
- A personal-finance article on when to rent versus buy listed RentMacha alongside rivals such as Furlenco and Rentomojo as options popular with young professionals who relocate frequently.[2]
- A 2019 report on startups reducing capital expenditure by renting equipment identified RentMacha among the B2B vendors used to lower upfront costs.[3]
Funding
[edit]RentMacha closed an angel round backed by eight individual investors in March 2018.[4]
