Ravi Venugopalan is an Indian tabla player, educator, and rhythm artist known for his performances in Indian classical music. Trained under some of the leading tabla maestros of India, he has established himself as a versatile soloist, accompanist, and international tabla instructor.

Early Life and Training

Ravi Venugopalan began his training in tabla at a young age under Ustad Faiyaz Khan Saheb of the Dilli Gharana. He later continued his advanced training in the Guru-Shishya Parampara under world-renowned tabla maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and his son Anubrata Chatterjee, belonging to the Farrukhabad Gharana.

Career

Venugopalan has performed across various classical and contemporary music stages in India and abroad. Known for his deep understanding of rhythm and improvisation, he has collaborated with artists across vocal, instrumental, and fusion genres.

He has been invited to conduct tabla workshops internationally and is known for his clear teaching methods that balance tradition with creativity.

Teaching

He is also an active tabla educator with students from across the globe. His teaching emphasizes traditional compositions, technique, and rhythmic awareness.
