Raphael Gomes (born June 23, 1997) is a globally successful Portuguese-American YouTuber, social media influencer, chef, and author. He has over 2 million subscribers[1][2] on his YouTube channel Raphael Gomes, over 1 million subscribers[3] on his TikTok channel, and together with his other social media channels on Facebook, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat, and Instagram, he has a total following of over 5 million subscribers, and close to 3 billion global views.
His net worth is estimated to be around $90 million[4][5].
Early life and career
[edit]Gomes was born in Portugal but later moved to London, UK.[6][7] He has one sister, Joana. He has been passionate about cooking since a young age and started his first videos whilst still in school.[8] He currently lives in the United States.[9]
As one of the first creators to publish on YouTube, his first viral success was his famous 2 Minute Cupcake video which amassed over 4 million views at the time. He later went on to invent some of the most widely YouTube and TV adapted video concepts, such as the 24 Hour Series[10][11][12] with individual videos with over 8 million global views[13], the American vs. British Series[14] with individual videos with over 3.5 million views[15], the 1 vs. 5 Star Series[16] with individual videos with over 3.4 million views[17], the Hacks Series[18], the Copycat Recipes Series[19], the Food Gadgets Series[20], and the TikTok Hyped Restaurants Series[21].
He was first awarded a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award nomination in 2016, for UK Favorite Breakthrough Vlogger.[22][23] Whilst he was living in the United Kingdom, he was a regular guest and panel member for Social in the City, the biggest European social media conference with over 10,000 attendees[24][25].
Gomes also appeared in YouTube Rewind, the official annual YouTube video production featuring the top 50 creators of the year.[26][27]
TV and media appearances
[edit]Gomes appeared as a guest host of the longest-running children's TV show in the world, Blue Peter.[28] He was also a guest on BBC's Steve Wright in the Afternoon, alongside Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane.[29][30][31] He has also done work for BBC Three for I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse.[32]
Furthermore Gomes appeared in marketing campaigns for many of the largest Fortune 500 companies, including McDonalds[33], Marriott Hotels & Resorts[34], Paramount Pictures[35], and Microsoft.
He appeared on numerous red carpet and movie premieres, across the United States and United Kingdom.[36][37][38][39][40][41][42]
Cookbook
[edit]Gomes published a bestselling cookbook in 2015, titled Epic Kitchen Adventures.[43][44][45][46] It became a WHSmith bestseller[47], and was published by Blink Publishing, a global publishing house that also published the official autobiographies by Take That singers Robbie Williams[48], Gary Barlow[49], Formula One champion Jenson Button[50], singer Lily Allen[51], old Hollywood film star Burt Reynolds[52], and an upcoming book on the Princess of Wales[53]. The cookbook features an interactive app which can be used alongside the featured recipes.
Awards
[edit]Raphael Gomes has won over 100 global achievement awards[54], including seven Webby Awards [55], which The New York Times calls "the Oscars of the Internet". [56][57][58] In addition, Gomes has been awarded 20 Lovie Awards[59], 23 Davey Awards[60][61][62][63][64], 22 Communicator Awards[65][66][67][68][69], 18 W3 Awards[70][71][72][73][74][75], and eleven Telly Awards[76]. He has also won the prestigious YouTube Next Vlogger Award[77].
He is an honorary member of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Hollywood agent
