Rahn Hortman is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and author known for his clean, observational humor. He has performed at major comedy clubs and festivals across the United States and has appeared on national television.
Early life
[edit]Hortman was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He developed an interest in comedy in elementary school, performing a short stand-up set in class as a reward for good behavior. He has cited Bill Cosby and Martin Lawrence as early comedic influences.[1]
Career
[edit]After relocating to Tampa, Florida, Hortman became a regular performer at local comedy venues, including Side Splitters and The Improv. He won the W-MOR TV Channel 32 Comedy Challenge and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Jokers Wild Contest.[2]
In 2009, Hortman was profiled in a feature article titled "Nothing Borrowed, Nothing Blue" in the Tampa Bay Times, which highlighted his commitment to clean comedy and his growing reputation in the Tampa Bay comedy scene.[3]
Hortman’s clean style has led to performances at colleges, corporate events, churches, and major comedy festivals including LaughFest, the South Beach Comedy Festival, the Bay Area Black Comedy Festival, and the Asheville Comedy Festival.[4]
He has appeared on several television networks including Nickelodeon’s NickMom Night Out, TBN, MavTV, the Circle Network, and Comedy Time TV.[4] In 2019, he released a Dry Bar Comedy special titled Good Game, which has received over three million views online.[5]
That same year, he was voted "Best Stand-Up Comedian" by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.[4]
Philanthropy
[edit]Hortman is the founder and president of the Healing With Humor Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises awareness about sickle cell anemia through comedy-based outreach events and fundraising shows.[6]
