Dr. Prasanta Raghab Mohapatra is an Indian physician, pulmonologist, academic, and author. He serves as the Dean (Academic) and Professor of Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar.[1]
Career
[edit]Dr. Mohapatra has over 29 years of experience in Pulmonary Medicine and currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department since April 2, 2013, at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He is a certified medical oncologist trained at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
He has played a pivotal role in starting the DM Super specialty program in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in 2017, the first such course in Eastern India.
Research and Publications
[edit]Dr. Mohapatra has authored or co-authored nearly 300 scientific publications[2], with over 190 indexed in PubMed. These include 23 publications in high-impact journals like The Lancet (19 as first author) and The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). His research spans tuberculosis, lung cancer, melioidosis, and COVID-19, among other areas.
He is the editor of the book Clinical Melioidosis: A Practical Guide to Diagnosis and Management published by CRC Press in 2023.

He was instrumental in setting up regional centers of excellence and training healthcare professionals.
