Pranjali Awasthi (born 2006) is an Indian–American entrepreneur, best known as the Founder and CEO of Delv.AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) company focused on data extraction and contextual research automation. She rose to international prominence after founding the company at the age of 16 and securing venture capital investment at a valuation nearing $12 million.

Early Life and Education

[edit]

Pranjali Awasthi was born in India into a family with a strong technical background; her father, a computer engineer, introduced her to coding at the age of seven. Her early exposure to programming was rooted in logic-based education and home-based technical mentorship.

At the age of eleven, her family relocated to Florida, United States. There, she continued to pursue advanced studies in mathematics and computer science, eventually enrolling in specialized programs for gifted students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Awasthi began working as a research intern in machine learning at Florida International University. At just 13 years old, she was contributing to real-world AI research while balancing academic responsibilities.

Career

[edit]

Founding of Delv.AI

[edit]

In January 2022, Awasthi launched Delv.AI with the vision of creating a tool that would streamline the extraction and organization of information from vast and often fragmented data sources. The platform leverages natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to assist researchers in retrieving relevant data from documents such as PDFs, research archives, and online content.

Awasthi conceived of Delv.AI as a response to inefficiencies she observed in academic and scientific research, where valuable time is often spent navigating repetitive search tasks and disjointed information systems. Her solution offered not only accurate information retrieval but also summarization, visualization, and export functionality.

Accelerator and Funding

[edit]

Later in 2022, Awasthi was accepted into HF0, a competitive San Francisco-based startup accelerator co-founded by prominent venture capitalists Lucy Guo and Dave Fontenot. Delv.AI was launched publicly on the platform Product Hunt, where it was voted the third most popular product of the day.

Within its first year, Delv.AI secured pre-seed funding totaling approximately $450,000 from several early-stage investors, including On Deck, Village Global, Backend Capital, AngelList Quant Fund, and angel investors such as Lucy Guo. By late 2023, the startup had reached an estimated valuation of $12 million, with a distributed team of around 10 employees.

Recognition and Impact

[edit]

Awasthi's achievements have been widely covered by global and Indian media outlets, including Business Insider, India Today, Hindustan Times, and Entrepreneur. Her success story has frequently been highlighted as an exemplar of Gen Z innovation in the artificial intelligence sector.

In 2022, she was named an IEEE Rising Star, and she has been invited to speak at multiple AI and startup forums. As of mid-2025, Delv.AI is being used by researchers, analysts, and enterprise clients to accelerate literature reviews, streamline R&D workflows, and reduce the time spent on knowledge retrieval.

Personal Life and Philosophy

[edit]

Awasthi credits much of her early development to her father, citing him as a pivotal influence on her career in technology. She has spoken publicly about grappling with imposter syndrome and encourages young entrepreneurs—particularly women in tech—to pursue their goals despite self-doubt or societal expectations.

She emphasizes the importance of mentorship, peer collaboration, and hands-on experience in technical fields. In interviews, Awasthi has noted that real-world challenges, rather than theoretical problems, inspired her to build scalable, user-centered tools.

Recent Developments

[edit]

As of 2025, Awasthi, now 18, is reportedly working on a new product code-named “Dash”, which she describes as “ChatGPT with hands”—a reference to its proactive AI agent capabilities. She has also enrolled in the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
