Pooja Garg is an Indian para-athlete, motivational speaker, and disability rights advocate. A survivor of spinal cord injury and cancer, she represents India in international para-canoe competitions and is known for her awareness campaigns and record-setting journey to Nathula Pass.
Early life and background
[edit]Pooja Garg was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She completed a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology. In 2010, on the day of her first job, she met with a road accident that resulted in a spinal cord injury, leading to paraplegia. After 13 major surgeries, she gradually returned to physical activity and later took up para-sports.
Athletic career
[edit]Garg began with national-level para shooting and later shifted to para-canoeing. She has represented India in several international events including:

She became the first paraplegic Indian woman to reach Nathula Pass in this way, promoting awareness on cancer and disability inclusion.[4][5]
Her journey was recognized by the Indian Army (Eastern Command) and the feat was documented in the London Book of World Records.[6]
Social work and advocacy
[edit]In 2024, she founded the NGO "Pankho Ki Udaan", which works for children's safety, disability inclusion, and cancer awareness.
