Pia is one of Australia's most recognized and established luxury lifestyle influencers.[1] She first gained attention as a lawyer who left her legal career to pursue Instagram influencing. Muehlenbeck’s transition from law to influencer was described as a move from "nerd" to "social media royalty."[2] She co‑founded eco‑fitness brand SLINKII Athletic before pivoting to venture investment. In 2024, she relocated to the United Arab Emirates to accelerate her global business activities and investments.
Early life and education
[edit]Pia Muehlenbeck was born in Reutlingen, Germany, on 5 November 1991. Her family moved to Queensland, Australia, when she was eight. She earned a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Technology Sydney and worked as a commercial lawyer in Sydney.
Career
[edit]Social media and entrepreneurship
[edit]While practicing law, Muehlenbeck launched a wellness blog focused on eco‑friendly living, yoga, and clean products. Alongside her now husband, Kane Vato, she co-founded **SLINKII Athletic**, a clothing line that had a focus on sustainability.[3] Whilst still in her legal career, she also managed all the day to day operations and social media of SLINKII until the company reached a point where she resigned. Her journey garnered a lot of press attention and her social media grew quickly to over 2 million followers on Instagram, over 600,000 subscribers on YouTube, over 500,000 on TikTok and over 1 million followers on Facebook with magazines like *Grazia* describing her as one of the social media’s standout creators.[4]
Shift to investing and move to UAE
[edit]After scaling SLINKII Athletic, Muehlenbeck shifted into **investing**, focusing on startups and digital ventures. In December 2024, she and Kane Vato relocated to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to leverage the region’s business infrastructure and expand their investment portfolio and brands.[5]
Personal life
[edit]Pia Muehlenbeck married Kane Vato in an intimate ceremony at the Fig Tree Restaurant near Byron Bay on 4 December 2018.[6] The ceremony took place under a hilltop fig tree overlooking the coast, held in front of roughly 100 close friends and family.[7] At her wedding, Pia Muehlenbeck requested that all guests wear “pale neutrals” or muted earth tones, a decision that sparked heavy media commentary[8]
