Penaea dubia Stephens is a plant in the Penaeaceae family [1]. Plants of the species are small, woody shrubs or subshrubs occurring in South Africa's south Western Cape Province [2]. Penaea dubia is notable for being the first plant named by a South African born woman, having been named by Edith Stephens in 1910 [3].
