The Operation Sankalp was an operation launched by the CRPF in coordination with State Security Forces of Telangana and Chattisgarh

Background

The Operation was launched with inputs of presence of the Battalion No.1 of the PLGA which is considered to be the most dangerous and having the most experienced cadres camping near the Koragutta hills spanning Chattisgarh and Telegana.

Objectives

The Main objective of the operation as stated by the commanders are:
1) To Capture or kill Deva and Madvi Hidma. Deva is the Head of Battalion No.1 and Hidma is the Member of the Central commitee of the CPI(Maoist) and Head of its operations.
2) To dismantle the most dangerous Battalion No.1 of PLGA containing the most hardcore cadres.
3) Clear the Koregutta hills from Maoists presence and neutralize IEDs planted to target the Forces.

Timeline

  • 25 April: The first encounter as part of operation occured in which 3 women Maoist were killed in Bijapur district, Chattisgarh.[3]
  • 29 April: The CRPF have successfully managed to clear areas of Karregutta hills and have shared images of hoisted National Flag.[4]
  • 6 May: A Maoist was killed in an encounter as part of th operation and weapons recovered in Bijapur district, Chattisgarh.[5]
  • 7 May: In a massive assault as part of the operation, the Security forces killed 22 Maoists and huge cache of weapons discovered in Bijapur district, Chattisgarh.[6]
  • 10 May: The Operation was suspended due to the Ongoing 2025 India-Pakistan Conflicts.
