Professor Noureddine Chaachouay (Born in El Guenzra, Khemisset, Morocco) is a Moroccan botanist and ethnopharmacologist, specializing in ethnobiology, ethnobotany, medicinal and aromatic plants, plant ecology, plant physiology, systematics, taxonomy, phytotherapy, phytochemistry, agronomy and horticulture, climate change, nanotechnology and preservation of traditional knowledge in the Rif, the Middle and the High Atlas. He is currently working as an Associate Professor at the École Supérieure de l'Éducation et de la Formation de Berrechid (ESEFB), Université Hassan First, Settat, Morocco. Chaachouay obtained his doctorate in Plant Science in 2020 from Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, Morocco, on the topic of “Floristic and Ethnomedicinal Study of Aromatic and Medicinal Plants in the Rif Region (Northern Morocco)."[1]

Academic Career
[edit]Chaachouay began his professional career as a Secondary School Teacher in Life Sciences and Earth Sciences within the Provincial Directorate of Education in Sale, Morocco, where he worked from 2015 to 2020. In 2020, he joined the École Supérieure de l'Éducation et de la Formation de Berrechid (ESEFB) at Hassan First University in Settat, Morocco, where he currently holds the title of Associate Professor of higher education. In his academic career, his primary interests include botany, Systematics, Taxonomy, Ethnopharmacology, Phytotherapy, Nanotechnology, and climate change, all areas that integrate research and pedagogy[5].

Research and Contributions
[edit]Professor Chaachouay focuses on botany, systematics, taxonomy, ethnopharmacology, phytotherapy, and nanotechnology of medicinal plants, exploring the effects of climate change on Agriculture and biodiversity through a combination of research and pedagogy[12][13]. He is the author of over 200 publications, including original research articles, review articles, book chapters, and books, as well as numerous scientific communications presented at national and international conferences[14][15]. His activities are aimed at documenting the traditional uses of medicinal and aromatic plants, verifying their therapeutic properties, and developing methods to protect the endangered Mediterranean flora[16][17].
