‘’‘Naveen Tewari’’’ is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of the InMobi Group, a global mobile advertising and consumer technology company. He is best known for building India’s first unicorn, InMobi, in 2011, and for launching Glance, a lock screen content platform that became a unicorn in 2020.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Tewari was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He grew up on the IIT Kanpur campus, where his father, Dr. Sachchidanand, was a professor of electrical engineering. His grandmother, Dr. Krishna Tewari, was among the first women professors at any Indian Institute of Technology.[2]
He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2000 and later completed an MBA at Harvard Business School, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award for leadership.[3]
Career
[edit]Tewari began his professional journey at McKinsey & Company and later worked with Charles River Ventures. In 2007, he co-founded mKhoj, which evolved into InMobi, a mobile advertising platform.
InMobi
[edit]In 2011, InMobi became India’s first unicorn after raising funding from SoftBank. The company offers mobile advertising and marketing technology and operates globally across multiple markets.[4]
Glance
[edit]In 2019, Tewari launched Glance, a content discovery platform integrated into smartphone lock screens. In 2020, Glance became a unicorn after investment from Google.[5] By 2024, Glance had over 300 million users across India and Southeast Asia.[6]
Roposo and creator-led commerce
[edit]Tewari also oversaw the acquisition of Roposo, a short video and live commerce platform that now powers creator-led shopping experiences for Glance. It has been instrumental in launching digital-first brands like EK and DCRAF in collaboration with creators.[7]
