The Nabatean Selecid war was a conflict between the Nabataean Kingdom and the Seleucid empire during 84-82 BCE lasting approximately 2 years,the Seleucid Empire (under King Antiochus XII Dionysus) launched a campaign to reassert Seleucid control over southern Syria and the Transjordan region, targeting the rising power of the Nabataeans.later the outcome was that The war ended with a Nabataean victory. Antiochus XII was killed in Battle of Cana (Qanawat) in modern-day Syria. The Seleucid army was routed, and this defeat further accelerated the decline of the Seleucid Empire.the aftermath was that King Aretas III gained control over Damascus and surrounding areas, marking the high point of Nabataean territorial expansion.
