N. A. Hamidur Rahman (Bengali: এন. এ. হামিদুর রহমান), popularly known as Hena Ukil (Bengali: হেনা উকিল), was a Bangladeshi advocate, teacher, politician and freedom fighter.
Early life and family
[edit]Rahman was born into a Bengali family of Muslim Bishwases in the village of Lakshminarayanpur in Nawabganj, Malda district, Bengal Presidency. He was the second child of Muhammad Fahimuddin Miah Bishwas.[1]
Career
[edit]Rahman was initially a teacher, and served as the headmaster (1953) of Rahanpur A. B. Government High School for a long time. After that, he entered into politics and became a judge at the Chapai Nawabganj Court.
He successfully contested for the Rajshahi-2 constituency as an Awami League candidate at the 1970 East Pakistan Provincial Assembly election. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, Rahman was one of the members of the steering committee in Nawabganj under Sector No. 7, which initially consisted of five members and later expanded to ten members.[2]
