Infrastructure and Facilities
[edit]Monglapota High School operates in a fully government-owned building with four pucca (permanent) blocks. It has a total of 36 classrooms, all of which are in good condition, along with seven additional rooms for administrative and other academic purposes. The school is equipped with a library and a separate room for the headmaster. Electricity is available throughout the campus, though the installed solar panels are currently non-functional.
The school has adequate sanitation facilities, with separate functional toilets for boys and girls. Additionally, it provides handwashing stations near the toilets and meal areas. The institution also features a playground, contributing to the physical development of students. Drinking water facilities are available and fully functional.
Academic and Teaching Staff
[edit]The school follows Bengali as the medium of instruction and does not offer any pre-primary education. It employs 31 teachers, including 29 regular and two contract-based staff. Among them, 17 hold postgraduate degrees, while 14 have completed undergraduate studies. All teachers have professional qualifications, with 30 possessing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree.
The school follows an annual academic calendar of 225 instructional days but does not implement Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). Inspections are conducted by various officials, including the CRC Coordinator and Block Level Officers, ensuring regular academic supervision.
Student Enrollment and Demographics
[edit]Monglapota High School currently has a total enrollment of 1,819 students, including both boys and girls. The student population represents diverse social categories, with a significant number of General, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students. Additionally, 1,353 students belong to minority communities, with the majority being from the Muslim community.
Student Welfare Programs
[edit]The school actively participates in welfare programs to support students. A mid-day meal is provided to students up to Class VIII, ensuring nutritional support. The school also has a canteen offering paid meals. One of the key attractions of the school is its free hostel facility for girls, which has drawn students from nearby villages.
Digital and Educational Resources
[edit]While the school possesses digital infrastructure, its ICT facilities are currently non-functional. It has 10 desktop computers, one projector, and one printer, but no internet connectivity. There are no functional digital boards or DTH-enabled classrooms at present.
Extracurricular and Support Systems
[edit]The school emphasizes overall student development through sports and extracurricular activities. Regular medical checkups are conducted to ensure students' well-being. However, there are no provisions for Anganwadi services, special education programs for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), or transport facilities for students.
Conclusion
[edit]Monglapota High School remains a cornerstone of education in its region, offering a structured curriculum and essential facilities to support student growth. With a well-equipped campus, dedicated teaching staff, and welfare initiatives, the school continues to serve as a valuable educational institution for the local community. Future improvements in digital infrastructure and expanded student support programs could further enhance the learning environment and opportunities for students.
