Mitchell Connolly
Mitchell Connolly (born 27 September 1986) is an Australian Christian advocate, community servant, charity supporter, ministry student, actor, competitive fitness model and bodybuilder, martial artist, dance instructor, certified fitness professional, and serving member of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). He is best known for his outspoken Christian faith and testimony of transformation, dedicating his life to serving Jesus Christ, supporting homeless communities and youth in need, and using every aspect of his career — from streetwear to performing arts — to share hope, restoration, and practical help with others.
Early Life and Christian Testimony Connolly was born in New South Wales, Australia. From a young age, he faced a difficult family environment marked by family violence, which led to him becoming homeless at age 15. During these early years, he had some encounters with police and faced instability on the streets.
Connolly credits finding Jesus and the power of community — especially the help of Rumbalara Youth Refuge in West Gosford and other local homeless services — as the turning point that rescued him from despair and set him on a new path.
As a young adult, he formally pursued ministry training, starting with a Hillsong certificate in ministry studies, later serving as a youth leader with Catch The Fire Ministries, and remaining active in churches including Impact Church Erina (where he was also a personal trainer at Impact Gym), Hope UC, and today frequently attending evangelical and Baptist churches.
Connolly openly shares his testimony to encourage others who have suffered trauma, family breakdown, or homelessness, pointing to Jesus Christ as the source of healing and purpose.
Community Service and Charity Rooted in his faith and gratitude for those who helped him, Connolly has spent over a decade giving back to the same communities that once supported him. He has raised funds, volunteered, and advocated for:
Rumbalara Youth Refuge, which he campaigned to keep open during crises in 2014 and 2021 through petitions, fundraising and personal donations. Coast Shelter, providing crisis accommodation, meals, and pathways out of homelessness. Liberty Church Lifehouse Gosford, SWAG Family Sydney, and various church-based outreach programs delivering food, clothing, and hope directly to people living rough. He also founded Flayme Industries, a socially conscious streetwear brand with a Christian mission to “carry the flame” — using profits and community campaigns to help the poor, fund youth work, and spark conversations about faith and resilience. Coast Community News and other media have profiled these efforts multiple times [1][2][3][4][5].
Military Service Alongside his ministry and charity work, Connolly has served Australia as a full-time soldier in the ADF. He began as a rifleman with the 2nd/17th Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment (2/17 RNSWR), completing Infantry IETs in 2020. He then transferred to full-time service with roles in 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) and the University of New South Wales Regiment (UNSWR), balancing duty and family with his ongoing faith commitments.
Performing Arts, Fitness and Martial Arts A passionate believer in using all talents for God’s glory, Connolly has blended performing arts, fitness, and martial arts into his outreach and youth mentoring.
He trained at the Sydney Dance Company in hip hop dance, competed at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles twice, winning multiple international medals, and taught hip hop across Sydney from 2016–2020.
He holds Certificate III and IV in Fitness from the Australian Institute of Fitness, worked as a personal trainer (including at Impact Gym Erina) and has trained in Muay Thai, MMA, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over a decade, teaching Muay Thai in 2019–2020.
Connolly also competed as a natural bodybuilder and fitness model:
3rd at INBA 2012 Sydney City Fitness Model competition, Competed at the 2013 INBA Sydney Physique Championships (Athletic Male Short division), Competed with the Australasian Natural Bodybuilding Federation (ANB). He was featured as StarCentral Magazine’s Male Model of the Month in December 2013.

Home and Away (1988–2019) — Reporter #1 / River Boy (6 episodes, 2014–2019) Yesterday's Girl (2018) — Militia-Man 1 Tomislav's Diary (2018, Short) — Serbian Soldier Event Zero (2017) — Nationalist of Peace Love Is Now (2014) — Art Patron The Book of Job — Angel (in post-production) His full credits appear on IMDb.
