Michel F. April is a composer, arranger and producer. He has produced more than twenty albums and composed the music for over twenty-five television series and/or musical themes.[1] [2] [3] [4]

Early life and education

Michel F. April was born into a musical family.[5] [6]

In his student years he had the opportunity to be influenced by well-known Canadian jazz musicians Lorraine Desmarais, Jean-Pierre Zanella, and Luc Beaugrand.[7] [8]

Career

April's client base has included major entertainment studios such as NBCUniversal, Warner Bros, and Disney.[9]

Film and television work

April's film scoring credits includes the short film Two Secrets (2011), Golden Nugget (2012), and Joanna (2013). For television, he has provided music for a range of programs, including The Nature of Things, The Bold and the Beautiful, American Idol, Cities of the Underworld, The Amazing Race Canada [10] In 2021, he composed the original score for The End is Nye, a science-based documentary series hosted by Bill Nye and produced by Seth MacFarlane and Brannon Braga. Video game music

April is also a prominent figure in video game music composition, particularly through his collaboration with Behaviour Interactive. He is best known for his work on the asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight. A Multiplayer action survival horror game, in which his music plays a central role in shaping the game's immersive atmosphere. He has created content for Dead by Daylight that is tied to major franchises such as Stranger Things, Resident Evil and Alien, helping the Dead By Daylight game achieve worldwide popularity with over 60 million players.Additional game credits include Meet Your Maker (2023), Deathgarden (2018), and TimeMelters (2022) among others.

Recognition

April's work in video games has been recognized with industry accolades, including a nomination for Best Original Music at the Canadian Video Game Awards.[12][13] His involvement in Dead by Daylight, which was awarded Best Canadian-Made Game, further underscores his influence within the interactive entertainment industry.[14]
