Matthew Warren Tromp (born 1 April 2005) is an American cricketer who plays as a batting all‑rounder. A right‑handed batsman and right‑arm medium‑fast bowler, he has represented franchise teams in both U.S. leagues and overseas T20 competitions. He currently plays for the Seattle Orcas and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.
Early life and youth career
[edit]Tromp was born on 1 April 2005 in the United States. He first gained attention playing for the TCC Kings in the Houston Youth Premier League (HYPL), where he scored over 1,700 runs and took more than 30 wickets in youth-level tournaments.[1]
Domestic and franchise career
[edit]In 2022, Tromp debuted in the U.S. Minor League Cricket championship with the Houston Hurricanes.[2] He joined the Seattle Orcas in 2023 and later signed for the Los Angeles Knight Riders for the 2024 MLC season. Tromp has also participated in overseas T20 leagues, including stints in Pakistani local leagues.
Playing style
[edit]Tromp is known for his explosive batting in the middle order and for being a dependable medium-fast bowler. Coaches have commended his athleticism, calm under pressure, and tactical awareness.[3]
Personal life
[edit]Tromp is openly Christian and references Bible verses in his social media presence. Not much is known about his personal life.
