Markus Kinnunen is a Finnish ballroom dancer and multiple-time national champion.
A graduate of Sibelius-lukio in Helsinki, he studied music and dancing before continuing with international business administration studies at the Estonian Business School. From 2024 to 2025, he served in the Finnish Defence Forces Sports School, earning the Grand Master’s Medal for excellence in both service and athletics. Throughout his athletic career, he has represented Finland in World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World and European Championship events across Asia and Europe, including in China, Moldova, Armenia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Romania.[1][2]
Together with his dance partner Ellen Puotiniemi, the couple represented the Helsinki-based dancesport club Master, led by coach Sergey Belyaev, and trained under the guidance of top-level international coaches. From 2022 to 2024, they dominated the Finnish national ballroom scene, winning multiple national titles in Adult Standard and 10-Dance, remaining undefeated in all major domestic competitions for two consecutive years. Internationally, they reached finals across Europe and competed globally at the highest level. In the Under 21 category, they achieved notable success, reaching a career-high world ranking of 7th in 2024.[3][4][5]
