Margot Cavazzoni Shore (born March 15, 1997) is a professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Serie B club Bologna FC. Born in Canada, she represents Italy at the International level.
Early life
[edit]Shore was born in Ottawa, Ontario to a Canadian father and an Italian mother. She began playing soccer at the age of 5 with the Nepean Hotspurs, later moving to the Ottawa Fury FC. She originally began as an outfield player, before switching to goalkeeper at age 11. She was a three-time nominee for the USL National Olympic Development Program Camp at the Under 14, 15 and 16 age levels and selected as the top ranked goalkeeper (select A Team) at the Under-14 level.[1]
College career
[edit]Shore attended the The University of Pittsburgh from 2014-16 and played two seasons for the Pittsburgh Panthers. She transferred to the University of Ottawa where she played as a goalkeeper from 2016-2020.She was named as the 2018 Canada U SPORTS Championship All-Star Team[2], the 2016-2018 Academic All-Canadian. She was the starting goalkeeper for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's soccer squad competing in 2019 FISU University Football World Cup hosted in Jinjiang, China. The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women's soccer team claimed the FISU University World Cup[3]title with a 1-0 victory over Brazil's Paulista University.[4]
Club career
[edit]Shore started her club career in 2020 in Serie C playing for Lecce.[5] She signed with Pink Bari in Serie B for the 2021-22 season followed by a two-year contract with Hellas Verona from 2022-24[6] and Bologna FC 2024-.[7]
International career
[edit]As a dual citizen, Shore is eligible to represent either Canada or Italy.
In 2024, she was called up for the first time to the Italy women's national football team[8]to compete in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 qualifying[9] and the UEFA Women's Nations League[10]double headers and international friendlies.[11]
Personal life
[edit]Grandfather Enzo Cavazzoni was a former Olympian and represented Italy at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia.[12][circular reference]
