Summary:

Manoel Nunes da Silva (born in Acopiara, Ceará, Brazil) is a Brazilian professional jockey who has achieved national and international recognition in the world of horse racing. Known for his early rise to prominence and consistent success across South America and Asia, Nunes has established himself as one of the leading figures in the sport.

Raised as the eldest of ten siblings, Nunes grew up in a rural environment deeply connected to traditional Brazilian equestrian activities. His father, Valdeci Ribeiro da Silva, was a celebrated "vaquejada" rider — a sport involving horseback riders working together to subdue a calf — and young Nunes often assisted him as the second rider. Prior to his involvement in vaquejada, Nunes also competed in "parelha," a form of sprint racing where two horses run side-by-side over short distances.

At the age of 12, Nunes moved to São Paulo with the ambition of becoming a professional jockey at the Jockey Club of São Paulo. Initially rejected for being underweight at only 37 kilograms, he spent the next two years working alongside his father and following a nutritional program to gain the necessary weight. Returning to the club at 14 years old and weighing 41 kilograms, he was accepted into the jockey training program.

Nunes quickly distinguished himself by becoming one of the youngest riders to achieve professional status at the Jockey Club of São Paulo. His early career was marked by a historic achievement when he became the youngest jockey ever to win a Triple Crown in Brazil — an accomplishment that solidified his reputation as a rising star.

In 2002, seeking greater challenges and opportunities, Nunes relocated to Macau, China, where he began competing on the Asian racing circuit. Over the following years, he consistently ranked among the top five jockeys at multiple prestigious racecourses, building a strong international reputation for his skill, consistency, and competitive spirit.

Nunes continues to be a significant figure in the horse racing world, with numerous notable victories and accolades to his name.
