Mahat Jalan (born January 14, 1990) is an Indian actor, model, and language educator. He is known for his lead role in the short film Terahvin (Thirteenth) (2020), directed by Karthik, and for his humanitarian work teaching French to underserved Muslim communities in rural Gujarat, India.

Early Life and Education

Jalan was born at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, New Jersey, USA, to Indian parents. His paternal grandmother was white British, giving him a mixed Indian–European heritage. Shortly after his birth, his family relocated to India, where he was raised—primarily in Palanpur, Gujarat. He later worked as a college professor in Ahmedabad.

After returning to the United States to pursue acting, Jalan enrolled at the **New York Film Academy (NYFA)** in New York City, where he formally trained in film acting and performance.

Career

In 2020, Jalan made his acting debut in the short film Terahvin (Thirteenth), directed by Karthik. He played the role of **Raj Sharma**, a young man coping with depression following the loss of a loved one. The film was officially selected for the **New York Lift-Off Film Festival 2020**, receiving recognition for its introspective narrative and Jalan's leading performance.[1]

In 2025, Jalan began teaching French to underprivileged Muslim children in rural Gujarat, India. His efforts were profiled in an article by *Parsippany Focus*, highlighting his unique role as an actor and educator blending cultures through language.
